The Colorado River runs through Austin. When most Austinites think of the river, they typically think of the portion west of Austin feeding the Highland Lakes (Lake Travis, Inks Lake, etc.), which ultimately becomes Lake Austin and Town Lake. The pictures below are of the river downstream from the city. These were taken in Webberville, only 15 minutes from Austin, east on MLK/969. AustinExperience hooked up with Cook's Canoes to travel a 5 mile stint down the Colorado. We went by canoe, and stopped for lunch on an island mid-trip. Many folks hit this part of the river for some excellent fishing drifting in a canoe or kayak.
