The Pack A.D.

When I first put Tintype in, my first impression was of 'background music to a fight scene in a dark alley'. But after sitting down and actually listening to the songs, word for word, they seemed somewhat more inviting. With songs ranging from Gold Rush to Bone Handle, one thing's for sure: they've got a way with words!

The fact that this is a two-woman band is strangely empowering. It seems to say that this isn't music just for guys with nothing better to do than sit around and listen to music all day. (Not that I would have anything against that; I would love to just listen to music.) Granted, some of their songs just plain scared me, (ex. This Terror). All in all, this very no-nonsense garage-band duo has music that is sure to point out who The Pack A.D. is; against all stereotypes, a two-woman, blues-infused rock group that's sure to keep you awake.

Oh, and if you happen to run into Becky Black or Maya Miller in Vancouver, why not ask them to a game of cards and a cup of coffee? That's sure to get a laugh out of them.
