According
to the band, Jagger is named after their smooth but potent drink
of choice, Jagermeister. After listening to the first track on
their CD, Yum Yum Eat'um Up, I would have thought the band
name was a tribute to Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. After
listening to the entire CD, I wouldn't associate their style with
the Stones alone. The raw sound delivered from the band seems
to be influenced from the rock legends of the 60's and southern
rockers of the 70's. In fact, it would not be hard to convince
someone that their CD is actually compiled from the 'lost recordings'
pulled from the archives of a recently passed music producer.
With
that said, Jagger has managed to create a collection of songs
that will stand the test of time. They have stripped their songs
down to the basicsgood old fashion guitar, a solid rhythm,
and straight forward vocals. No trendy effects during the mix;
no hip-hop inspired drumbeats.
Jagger
is comprised of Dave Drapen (guitars
and vocals), Erik Larson (guitars and vocals), Mark Wofford (drums),
and Shane Walker (bass). The members of the band have varied pasts,
but all bring with them a substantial background in the music
business.
